Psychotherapy & Counselling

The theoretical foundation of my work is Transactional Analysis, which is an accessible and versatile approach. My practice is also grounded in my belief in the healing potential of the therapeutic relationship; I will invite you to join me in creating a relationship in which you feel understood, valued and supported. Together we will explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and bodily experience. Sometimes we may focus on your current difficulties, and other times I will encourage you to look beyond them, to discover how your past experiences may be influencing your here and now choices, reactions and relationships.

Our work together will deepen your understanding of your current difficulties, enabling you to find resolution, experience relief, and have the capacity for satisfying and meaningful relationships in your life.

Issues I work with include:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Post natal depression

  • Grief

  • Performance anxiety

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Low self-esteem

  • Identity issues

  • Parenting and family relationships

  • Trauma (sexual, relational, medical, religious)

  • Child sexual abuse

  • Neurodiversity

  • Disordered eating

 My Special Interests:

  • Trauma
I have completed additional training in sexual trauma and relational trauma, and I have experience working with sexual trauma, relational trauma, medical trauma, religious trauma, and child sexual abuse.

  • Family
As a parent myself, I understand how parenting can bring us face to face with difficulties in our relationships with our own parents. I support parents to parent in the way that they choose, rather than in the way that they may have been conditioned from their own parenting.

  • Neurodiversity
I provide a safe space for neurodivergent people who may not have experienced relational safety in the
past. Whether you are newly diagnosed, self diagnosed, or have a historical diagnosis, I will support you to understand your neurodivergence and its impact on your life, from an affirming perspective.

  • Performance Anxiety
Whether you are a musician, an actor, a public speaker, or anyone who struggles under pressure to perform, I understand just how distressing your symptoms can be. You may feel unable to perform, or you have lost your confidence. Together we will look beyond your symptoms to explore the origins of your dfficulties, enabling you to rebuild your confidence and achieve lasting relief.

Psychotherapy Client

“Through working with Philippa I re-orientated my emotional framework. I thought therapy was to ‘make me better’, but through our sessions I realised that more often it was encounters with environments and people, past and present, that shaped my feelings in the here and now. And in that respect these spaces and relationships needed to work better for me. I had been looking through the wrong end of the telescope. Only now can I ask with clarity, confidence and kindness for what I need and recognise for myself what are healthier relationships and life choices.”
